The International forum on biosecurity will be held in Amman (Jordan) under the title “Confronting Biological Threats: Biosecurity, Biological Weapons Nonproliferation, and Regional Cooperative Mechanisms”. This forum will take place in Amman, Jordan on October 27 – 29, 2008. The event brings together academic experts and practitioners from governments, inter-governmental organizations, academic institutions, civil society and the private sector.

The meeting will focus on the following topics:
• The Emerging Biological Weapons Threat and Means to prevent BW Proliferation
• Biosecurity Hazards and Risks
• Biosecurity and Preparedness
• National and Regional Legislation Implementation
• Disease Surveillance and Syndromic Surveillance
• Developing a Regional Policy on Biosecurity: Key Features and Follow-up Mechanisms
