BACKGROUND
Recent international developments sparked a
change in attitudes, policies and perceptions
towards non-conventional energy resources,
including nuclear energy. Currently, a number of
countries in the Middle East are in various
stages of planning towards possessing nuclear
energy facilities. The introduction of nuclear
energy capabilities in the region poses a number
of challenges pertaining to operations,
management, safety as well as proliferation
pattern within the region. The meeting also
discuss the prospects of creating a NWFZ in the
Middle East.

AUDIENCE AND TARGET SECTORS
• The meeting will engage a large international
audience (speakers and participants). Due to the
broad scope
of topics addressed, audience is expected to be of a multidisciplinary
nature, highly diversified and
multinational.
The meeting foresees the engagement of a number
of sectors in the meeting, including "but not
restricted" to the following:
